NC Campus Compact's 2012 Civic Engagement Administrator Conference (CEAC) "Measuring and Monitoring Civic Engagement"

This event is designed for higher education civic engagement practitioners and those who can help implement civic engagement assessment strategies. Choose the location that is best for you and bring a team: civic engagement administrators, Institutional Research, student and academic affairs, and economic development or extension folks working in the community. The agenda includes:

  • Overview of measuring and monitoring practices
  • Clarifying your purposes for measuring and monitoring
  • Identifying target audiences, uses of data, and desired outcomes
  • Understanding the difference and links between measuring and monitoring
  • Developing measurable indicators
  • Exploring strategies for design and data collection
  • The pros/cons of various data collection methods and existing tools
  • Building support and involvement of community, students, faculty

U of L Service Organizations Honored

by Campus Awards Ceremony

Lousiville, KY - Each year, the University of Louisville holds an awards ceremony that recognizes outstanding students, campus organizations and one employee for achievement on campus and in the community. Using criteria of leadership, service and involvement, a committee selects recipients from student, faculty and staff nominations. Two programs from the university's Engage Lead Serve Civic Engagement Office received awards in this year's 13th annual student awards ceremonies held on April 16. The How Can We Best Serve (HCWBS) team won an award for Outstanding New Program/Initiative, and Project Sunshine won the Spirit of Service-Organization award.

PostHeaderIcon KYCC Student Advisory Board Application

The Kentucky Campus Compact Student Advisory Board is a group of student representatives from each of the dues-paying KyCC member schools. This board is responsible for communicating thoughts, ideas, and concerns to the executive director and advisory board of KyCC. The primary purpose of this group is to make suggestions on ways to increase awareness of collegiate community service, civic engagement and service learning and improve services provided by KyCC. The board holds a business meeting twice a year and also meets for a College Positive Volunteers training once a year. One student will be appointed from each member institution to serve on the board for a two-year term.

To apply to become a member of the KyCC Student Advisory Board, students must currently be a freshman or sophomore as of spring semester 2012 and demonstrate that they are:

  • Well-informed on issues at the University
  • Active in community service through their campus
  • Be approved by the KyCC Advisory Board Member from their host institution

Taylor County, KY- Campbellsville University freshmen are getting to learn first-hand this semester what servant leadership is truly about. Through their First Year Experience class, students, with the help of their teacher and student mentor, are planning and participating in community service projects within Taylor County and a few of the surrounding counties.

Students, divided by their major or area of interest into 23 separate classes, are planning and completing projects this spring.
